Apr 19,  · In this album, Barney Kessel flirts with the Latin rhythms in a delightful way, makes you want to listen to it over and over. My special favourite is his version of One Note Samba, and Peanut Vendor. A great cd at a reasonable price. 4 people found this helpful/5(10).

Nov 15,  · The new kind of Latin, concocted by Cal Tjader on Latin Kick () and fully carved out on his LP Soul Sauce () as well as on Barney Kessel’s Contemporary Latin Rhythms (), focused on the sunnier and dreamier sides of the genre alloy.
  4. Kigarr says:
Contemporary Latin Rhythms is roughly comparable to the already splendidly exotic and dreamy Gone Native () by the New York Jazz Quartet, but even that album is more Latin than Kessel's artifact. Six renditions and four unique tracks by Barney Kessel made it to the green-tinged album.

Heavenly voices, turning towards hell – in a host of rare country music tracks that deal with the devil and the world down under! The set's the third volume in this wonderful series, and may well be the deepest-digging so far – and stands as a demonstration that, if you're going to have the spirit of redemption in your music, you've also got to make room for damnation as well!
